               French Impressionism is a film movement that includes several characteristics which are emotions, cinéma pur, Photogénie and visual rhythm. It uses metaphors, fantasy scenes and filters to evoke the feeling of the characters instead of showing the real objects. In the mise-en-scene of French Impressionism, the Impression filmmakers concerned about lighting objects to enhance their film to make a better quality and French Impressionism mood to the audiences. The filmmakers will always use single source, shadows indicating off-screen actions, variety of lighting situation in their film.

                 Films with French Impressionism movement are more consider toward artistic aspect. It most probably express the message in the film indirectly or subconsciously rather than tell the audiences the message directly.  

          This film movement has brought the beauty of arts into film industry. It provides another brand new way for the audiences to enjoy a film and also broaden the film market. Nowadays, the famous Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai has put a lot of effort on the development of French Impressionism movement.  

               As a conclusion, we believe that French Impressionism still in the progress of developing and it will continue to evolve as the advancement of the technology and also the increase of audiences.
